A Return, Of Sorts
And I've got something to show for myself!
I had a lot of good intentions with the last iteration of this newsletter. Jenna Gets (Film) Schooled was a ton of fun, and chatting about unsold and in-progress projects helped me better analyze my creative processes.
Then I got buried in projects, and all that fell to the wayside.
I’d still like to do those things, though maybe not on such an ambitious schedule. I tend to ask too much of myself and get burnt.
Finishing things, though, that energizes me. And I finally finished a project (okay, multiple projects) that I’d been working on for over five years.
I’m proud to say that my HELLION novel series is complete, and I’ve finally finished compiling all of the books into one neat package.
One prequel. Four novels. About 185,000 words. Whew.
To celebrate, it’s available for just .99 cents. And if you’ve got Kindle Unlimited, it’s free.
It’s an urban fantasy action-thriller based off of a busted spec I wrote in 2017. Here’s a little taste of what you’re getting into:
I'm Gray Carver. World-class thief. Ruthless assassin. And very, very dead.
I had a plan: after a decade of service to Lilah, the most dangerous woman in Ash City, I was pulling off one last mission and then walking away. I'd found the love of my life, David, and finally wanted to, well, live.
But nobody gets away from Lilah that easily. Rather than let me go, she had me and David killed.
I wake up dead to find that Lucifer has resurrected me. He's offering me a chance to get revenge on Lilah. All I've got to do is become one of his demonic Hellions and do a bit of his dirty work.
Dirty work is all I've ever done. Of course I agree.
I get a brand on my wrist, the ability to teleport, and shoved out into the Counterfeit City, which looks a lot like Ash City except here paranormal creatures aren't just real, they're everywhere, and for some reason they want me dead dead.
Now I'm working off my debt to the Devil while dealing with frenzied shifters, villainous vampires, wicked witches, ghostly sidekicks, sarcastic pixies, and more, and every single one of them is more dangerous than the last. But as I dive deeper into this supernatural underworld, I find that everything I thought I knew about my former life was a lie, and the that the most dangerous creature in this place might just be my lost love David.
If you dig movies like Underworld and Constantine or comics like Hellboy, I’m pretty sure you’ll dig this. I love Gray and the denizens of Counterfeit City. I hope you love them, too.
Thanks for sticking around. I hope to have much more for you soon.
Have an excellent day.
J
